How do I begin to tell this story How exactly can I make it perfectly clear Let me paint you a realist picture So that you will know I’m being sincere What I say is not nothing What I say comes from my heart What I say is that I love you so badly And this is the place to start You are always on my mind You are as constant as the northern star I try and I try to push you away from me But I can only push so far Don’t know what I do if lost you I think I'd simply lose my mind How do I begin to tell this story This story that contradicts and confounds I just know this one true thing Your voice is the most blessed of sounds

When I stand back and look at it It seems kind of crazy to even me This monument I built From sea to blackened sea It is strange and it is vast This mess I made This mess I made Entrance and barricade This mess I made When I stand back and look at it I myself am a little amazed How did I manage to pull it off Unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed It is a fancy tapestry This is my mess This is my doing I’m responsible No misconstruing When I stand back and look at it I feel a weird sense of pride I made meaning where the was no meaning And I never once lied Well maybe I told a fib or two

We went out to the Lake District On that fine and sunny July morn We found a spot near the boat house Near the bogbean and the squirrel corn We went 'round back to smoke a joint And we got ourselves super frickin' high You said, Let's take a skinny dip in the lake In that blue water under that juicy blue sky I knew you were a pretty good swimmer You could do flip turns just like a pro Why it is you dropped down like a stone Hell, I don't think I'll ever truly know A sheriff from the Warren County office Was the first to make the scene He asked me a lot of probing questions Thought I was trying to maybe contravene I was out of my mind with sorrow I struggled to make any kind of sense Because the love my life Had just got dragged down to the bottom And I could offer no good defense Did I have any kind of record Have I ever gotten in a fix with Johnny Law What exactly was she and I doing Swimming in Lake George in the raw They dragged Beatrice up from the bottom Her face look like wrinkled old sack In her pocket they found a soggy note It said she had married some kind of maniac We went out to the Lake District On that fine and sunny July day But Beatrice now is just a memory One more victim of Hudson Bay Sometimes I wonder just who I am Just what makes me tick the way I tick But sometimes I just can't help myself When something stupid lights my wick

They say that true love it never lasts And I'd like to say that that’s BS I’ve been in love my whole life long But with whom well that is anyone’s guess Lemme be the whipping cream in your cocoa Lemme be the sanity to your loco Lemme be the John to your Yoko Oh no, oh no They say that true love's a fantasy In reality it is doomed to fail But I believe there’s gotta be a one true one And in the end it ain’t no fairytale Come on, come on Come on, come on Come on is such a joy Come on is such a joy They say that true love is a fiction And that nothing ever truly lasts All of the movies and all of the books Are for those silly romantic enthusiasts

I am hiding out under the floorboards Hoping someone will come and find me But when I hear voices that rumble like thunder I retreat from reality Shine a little light down this way Shine a little light down this way It would be illuminating Something brilliant and something stimulating I am lost to this old world Maybe not so much lost but certainly adrift Got no family and I got no friends Even the mailman gives me short shrift There are corners that are dark and bleak Down in the places we dare not speak There are crannies hidden out of view You can find me there playing peekaboo I have a world all to myself And it’s no fun being all alone Please open the door and step on in And help me with my millstone
6.
You're my first thought in the morning My last thought late at night You're on my mind in cinemascope Never not in my sight Wish that I could explain it Wish that I could pull away You whisper to me like the devil You say, I'm gonna have my way You are my madness You are my madness I do the same thing over and over But it don't ever change When it comes to how I feel How I feel is downright strange You are my madness What is it about you I don't think I can explain Is it your hands or is it your eyes What exactly causes me pain What compels me What pulls me into your soul What yanks me in your direction And makes me lose control I am stone crazy, yeah that much is clear I am dominated and you are my domineer I feel you in my blood Like some sort of deadly virus There ain't no known cure For what makes you so desirous Don't know what you think of me Or if you think of me at all But I will spend the rest of my days Trying to break down your wall

Suddenly your feet are gone Your head's not where you remember Suddenly the lights are gone The middle of a deep and dark December Where, where, where do you think you are Where, where, where is the keys to your car Miss Isabella come back now Come back, come back, come back Miss Isabella come back now Suddenly the clocks have stopped Time is interrupted Suddenly the computer jams The drive has been corrupted Where, where, where Where, where, where are you now I wish you could come back forever

Little Heart 03:44
Can you hear it Can you hear it beating Can you feel it Can you feel it pounding Can you sense it Can you sense it pulsing My little heart My little heart My little heart It bleeds for you Can you bring it Can you bring it back to life Can you shock it Can you shock it with your kiss Can you hold it Can you hold it in your hands Can you save it Can you save it from dying Resuscitate it Defibrillate it Give me mouth to mouth Give me chest compressions

If everything is so fucking funny How come I’m not laughing all the time If the whole wide world is a cosmic goof Then there is no crime Just sayin', just sayin' If the whole wide world is a cosmic goof Then there is no crime Hee, hee, hee and a-ha, ha, ha Dark and strange and ghastly weird Ho, ho, ho and a-hee, hee, hee Bent so hard it's gone severed Divine, a divine joke Divine, that's all, folk If everything is so sidesplittingly Why aren't I slapping my knee Why aren't chunks blowing out my nose While I click my feet with glee Why's that Why is that, huh Why aren't chunks blowing out my nose While I click my feet with glee This ain't no sitcom This ain't ideal There ain't no script This is real If everything’s has you in stitches What's this gaping hole One look into your sweet green eyes Cuts me in my soul I'm bleeding out Bleeding out One look in your sweet green eyes Cuts me in my soul

Beatrice 05:09
What can be said about my dear Beatrice To me she was my one and only She came to me like a courtly vision Lifted me up when I was lonely She was my secret song My unrequited love And sadly we would never share the same bed She was my guide My inspiration That lasted long beyond when she was dead Her spirit never fled What can be said about my dear Beatrice She was always with me there in purgatory She gave me comfort, she gave me hope She taught me how to tell my story How much I love you my dear Beatrice With your scarlet dress and your golden blond hair How much I love you my dear Beatrice With a kind of love that’s beyond compare What can be said about dear Beatrice She made me a believer in fate Was she real or was she someone I dreamed up Beatrice with her ethereal state

I'm on Fire 03:26
My face is burning My feet are scalding My whole body is a-burning up Will you cool me Will you cool me down Will you cool me buttercup I’m on fire I’m on fire I am scorching hot I’m on fire I’m on fire Hot as an Hottentot My blood is boiling My veins are bursting Double, double toil and trouble My lungs are drowning Can't catch a breath Fire burn and caldron bubble Who's gonna put this out Who's gonna stake their claim Who's gonna put this out Who's gonna tame this flame My eyes are fiery My ass is scorching I am just about to combust My heart is bursting My brain is liquid I'm about to be cosmic dust

Flypaper 04:30
I need a friend I need someone like you I need a friend And you know what to do So now I stick to you like flypaper Don’t let me down That’s my one request Don’t let me down Don’t be like all the rest And then I stick to you like flypaper I have been hurt You can understand I have been hurt I make this one demand Be true I stick to you like flypaper

about

“Here powers failed my high imagination:
But by now my desire and will were turned,
Like a balanced wheel rotated evenly,
By the love that moves the sun and the other stars.”
