As it always was and always will be It’s down to me, yeah, down to me I am my staunch defender I got my own back I stand up for me when I’m under attack No one really wants me That much is clear But that’s OK I’m about outta here This is my lonesome farewell See me fly This is my lonesome farewell Bye-bye I tried to move a mountain But I got crushed in a landslide I tried to race around the world But it was a long and bumpy ride My family deserted me They left me for dead Never once showed compassion Or give me a crumb of bread

I can feel you in there In this secret place I can feel you in there I can see your face I can feel your heart beat I can feel your pain I can hear your thunder And I can taste your rain You're under my skin And I can't sleep You're under my skin Down, down deep You're under my skin You make a lotta racket You're always thrashing Can't keep you still Can't keep you from crashing And I wanna get you out Get you out of my soul And I wanna get you out Get out of my hole Under my skin I feel you creep Under my skin Down, down deep You wanna get closer I wanna push back 'Cause when I let you in I feel under attack You say that you love me You say that a lot You want me to love you I do not

There’s an ill wind blowing Like a lion’s roar The civilized world Ain’t so civil no more People are frightened Right down to their boots A lifetime of waste Has yielded strange fruits Say goodbye to the old Say goodbye to the weak They’re not good for much All them mild and meek Natural selection gonna sort us all out Natural selection I got a fever It’s a hundred and three I got it from the girl Sitting on the train next to me We’re gonna spread it From mouth to mouth From this land to your land From north to south There’s too many people With too many needs We squeeze out toxins Like so many bad seeds It’s in our water It’s in the food we eat It’s nature’s way of saying Trick or treat

I felt a sudden shift It was a strange uplift As if I were shot into outer space I was thrown back in my seat I felt both pressure and heat And all the bones were crushed in my face It came down, down like thunder In a world of wonder It came down, down like rain In a world of pain Suddenly I was high A thousand miles in the sky Looking down on that spinning blue orb I could see lakes and valleys I could see streets and alleys A hella lot for me to try to absorb I felt weightless and free Out beyond Earth's gravity I drifted further out Picked me a random route Beyond the stars of the milky way I cut loose of my tether I felt light as a feather And I let go of my seat back and tray

Trust 04:49
You ask me what is love It gives me pause I have to think long and hard But then it comes to me Something I already knew Something buried deep in my backyard It is trust Trust that I want It is trust Trust that I need I have longed To give myself over To open up and bleed Trust that I need You ask me what is missing It makes me wonder Wonder what's never been mine From deep inside me A single thought comes through The missing piece in my design You ask me what I yearn for And I scratch my head What's at the bottom of that empty hole It's not just love It's not just compassion I don't got trust down in my soul

Absence 05:22
Once upon a time you were right here And then one day you were gone Once upon a time we were oh so close And then you were somewhere beyond Where did you go, well I can't say It's like you pulled down the curtain Did you split or did you die I guess I'll never know for certain Absence makes the heart grow weaker Absence makes the heart grow cold Absence makes the whole world bleaker Lo and behold Once upon a time you were my light But then that light went out Once upon a time you were my water But then we fell into a drought How that happened, well I can't say Was it something that I said I did what what I could to revive us But the patient was clearly dead Do you remember how we used to fit Just like two peas in a pie Do you remember how we held each other close And say our love would never die Once upon a time we had it all Never thought that it would end Once upon a time we breathed the same air There was nothing we couldn't transcend But then one day you broke my heart And I still bear the wound I found myself on a distant world Where I remain marooned

Your wheels have been turning With deception and lies Nobody sees it Not even the wise You played off our fear, You played off our hate You played off our stupidity That most feeble trait You got what you wanted Hope you're happy now You got what you needed Hope you're happy now The world it can go to hell You killed the sacred cow You are the winner Hope you're happy now We saw what we wanted Not down underneath Now we will inherit All that you bequeath You played off our anger You played off our greed You played off our craving That most human need There ain't no past There ain't no future Nothing will last "Let me be your shaman Holy moly and wise I will rid you Of all that you despise I will give you everything Just gimme your souls Sign right here I'll take the controls"

Words come to me As if in a dream Words come to me Like a twisted meme What is the meaning Will it come clear I take it apart And then I disappear I have reached the turning point And I’ve packed up my sack I have reached the turning point And there's no turning back There is a light It comes from afar It beckons me Like the evening star I am drawn to it Like a lip to a nipple I worm my way in Past participle I’m out in the stars Beyond all space and time Nothing touches me Ain’t it sublime Don’t need no spacesuit Don’t need no gravity I will always remember you And I hope you remember me

Every morning I'd look out my window To see what I could see I believed there was another time And another place just waiting for me All I had to do was get myself out there Not live like some forever wannabe It was outside, over there I thought this can't be it This can't be all No, this can't be the whole story What about the promise of a promised land And all that guts and all that glory I was looking for a perfect world Where everything was hunky dory Every night I'd dream the same dream And awaken to the same nightmare Used to get me so goddamn down Spent all my time shouting, Unfair Still I believed there was a another time And another place Outside, over there

They came to us out of the blue And they took us all by surprise They took our houses and they took our jobs They took all our supplies They got us where were were weak They hit us with all of their might We were too distracted to see Or bother to put up a fight They came, they saw and they conquered us all And they acted fairly benign Almost like we were all friends They said that they could help us out We never got what that portends They gave us ice cream and cake And we grew fat and frail They blew down our straw house And stepped on our piggy tail Our day is done Our day is done

Where can you go When there ain't nowhere to go You’re going nowherebound Who can you be When there ain’t nothing to be When your voice it don’t make a sound What can you want When you can’t get what you want When all your dreams have run aground Here I am in the middle of nowhere All alone for eternity Here I am in the middle of nowhere Won’t you be nowhere with me Won’t you be nowhere with me Won’t you be nowhere with me What can you do When there ain't nothing to do And no way to get things done Who can you know When there ain’t no one to know When your friends amount to none What can you say When there ain't nothing to say No stories you haven’t spun What can you give When you got nothing to give When your heart is full of pain What can you want When your dreams are spent When you life is down the drain What can you build When your strength is gone And your body can't stand the strain

French Exit 05:17
I gotta say I’ve seen enough Enough to last me forever Yeah I can try to live the lie But it’s a pointless endeavor No it’s not a pretty picture The colors they all look garish This dream that I was living in Has turned nightmarish Don’t look now I’m heading for the door You won’t see me no more Funny how people choose to live Even when it causes them pain They would rather go along with the status quo Than to actually use their brain It’s not for me to judge What they do is what they do But I don’t wanna be here when the curtain comes down See ya ‘round my buckaroo Glad you seem to be on top of the world Wish that I could say the same You go on believing what you wanna believe But I’m not gonna play that game I’m taking my stuff and I’m hitting the road Where I’ll wind up I don’t know I’m aiming for somewhere beyond the horizon Yeah that’s where I’m gonna go
