Nerve Salad This one... yes. I dig this one. I dig ALL of his albums, but this one stands out. Gonna have to keep this one on replay. I can't believe the musical output of this one person. So much work going into writing songs, it's got to be some kind of syndrome we have yet to name. Eliot Wilder, yes sir... make no mistake. He deserves more love on Bandcamp.

Bygones 05:06
What's the sense in fighting anymore What's the sense in slamming your door It don't bring us closer It don't bring us closer 'Cause when we fight we always lose Let bygones be bygones Why has love fallen out of fashion Why is it so hard to act with compassion It don't make us better It don't make us better 'Cause when we hate we always lose Let bygones be bygones I pull for you You pull for me That is the way it is meant to be Let bygones be bygones Let bygones be bygones We spend our days in pointless pursuits One side rebukes while the other refutes It all comes to nothing It all comes to nothing 'Cause when we fight we always lose Let bygones be bygones

Feeling so tired I can't get to sleep I toss and I turn and I count sheep I say all my prayers I keep a good thought I try to forget all the battles I've fought And I say, Good night and pleasant dreams Ah-ho, ah-ho Good night and pleasant dreams My love, my love Something is stirring, it could be the pot Whatever it is I know not It's like I'm in stasis or purgatory There is no thread, there is no story Good night and pleasant dreams My sleepy little head Good night and pleasant dreams Hope you sleep the sleep of the dead I drank some Nyquil and a slug of gin Took a few roofies, the room it did spin But I wasn't drowsy despite the concern The spark it is damp but a flame it does burn

You gotta pick yourself up You gotta get yourself ready, Eddy You gotta gird yourself for the storm There are dark clouds ahead And they ain't just a feeble metaphor They are way, way out of the norm How you gonna endure it, how you gonna survive it How you gonna live through it, how you gonna find your way You make it work You make it work, oh yeah You make it work You make it work, oh yeah That's what you gotta do It is up to you, you make it work You gotta learn a skill You gotta know how to work the system You gotta be a Mister Freakin' Smarty Pants You gotta spread the word Even if they don't wanna hear it You gotta treat 'em all like worker ants It's a big old world, yeah, you can't deny It's a big old world but you can change it Change it if you try You gotta take out the trash You gotta build yourself a better alternative You gotta do it with your own two hands You gotta have a vision You gotta keep and love and nurture it You gotta spread it 'round to far-off lands

Liquid Blue 04:54
I would float forever If I had my way One more dream I cannot go far astray Liquid blue It is wild So perfect in this life Liquid blue Liquid blue Liquid blue Ah, my liquid blue Ah, my liquid blue You are my dream come true My liquid blue Liquid blue My liquid blue Setting sun approaches for its turn to rest Long enough to promise all us its best Little girl she pulls at the sleeve of my shirt Says she's feeling so broken and hurt

Take me away take me today Can't take it no more Save me a place A secret space Take away to a garden of eden Under the floor There's a place A home for little wanderers There's a place where I belong There's a place A home for little wanderers I sing your song Misbegotten, feeling rotten All alone All alone I'm on my knees Please, please, please I'm on my own Just need a little place for the night Just need a little loving to make it right Don't eat much, pretty clean No trouble at all Just need a bed To lay my head Give me a call, yeah Give me a call

Run to Him 05:09
Hooo what you waiting for You better run to him Hooo what you waiting for, girl You better run to him He is standing right outside your door His arms are opened wide There'll never be a better time than this Does you no good to hide He's the best deal you ever had He's got brains and heart He's got money and he's got means You could make a new start He will never ever let you down He won't give up on you Though you've been hurt a thousand times He will come on through He's a good guy, yeah that's for sure He gives the bums a dime When everyone else is just too busy to talk He always has the time He's a great lover, yeah so I've heard He let's you finish first And if you're parched down to your toes He will quench your thirst

On Hope 05:27
Why is it that every time Someone's hand reaches out to me I just wanna hold on to it 'Cause I take it all so seriously But over and over I prove to be a fool And over and over I don't learn this simple rule I don't know just what is best Hard truth or soft soap And I don't know which is worse No hope or false hope No I don't know Why is it that every time Someone somewhere says they care I just wanna believe it's true Wholesale and foursquare But over and over I get taken like a chump And over and over I fall back into a slump Why is it that every time Someone somewhere offers me some rope I cling to it for my dear life But in the end I feel like a dope 'Cause over and over Someone lets me down And over and over I feel like a clown

Ol' mossback George he had plans Gonna be an architect But every time he turned around his plans got wrecked While everyone got their day in the sun Poor ol' George he got squat While everyone got their story writ Poor ol' George he got no plot Good ol' George, ol’ mossback George He-haw, he-haw, he-haw Ol' George he kept the home-fires lit While his brother got all the glory Ol' George he did his dutiful best But his life it was a dreary story Yeah, all his friends they traveled the world Lived lives so rich and rife Ol' George felt cheated and mistreated He never got no wonderful life Ol' George got stuck with a nagging wife And a mess of screaming brats While all friends they lived uptown Like them uptown aristocrats George was angry and George was bitter Sometimes was downright violent George he took the Lord's name in vain But the Lord just sat there silent

Fireflies 05:07
Fireflies in the sky And they’re coming down now Fireflies in the sky And they hit the ground now Round around and chase my dreams Will you call me tonight And be my firefly, my firefly, my firefly tonight Yeah come with me Gimme a light, oh, gimme a light Gimme a light, oh, gimme a light So I can see Fireflies behind my eyes They blow through my head Fireflies behind my eyes Go where angels never tread Flit about like a white tornado Can’t contain ‘em in a jar Won’t you be my firefly, my firefly, my firefly tonight Yeah come with me Gimme a light, oh, gimme a light Gimme a light, oh, gimme a light So I can see Fireflies wave goodbye They’re gone in a flash Fireflies wave goodbye Brimstone and ash Standing here on the precipice Waiting for their return Please be my firefly, my firefly, my firefly tonight Yeah come with me Gimme a light, oh, gimme a light Gimme a light, oh, gimme a light So I can see

The sun it does not rise and the kids they do not play No one's laughing in the street now All the faces are grim and gray Birds are scattering unbeholden To the sound of ricochet All around there is singing But the song it has no tune Shut the drapes and kill the light It is darkness at noon Hey oh, hey oh, it is darkness at noon A crowd is milling on the platform And the train it does not arrive Smoke billows on the horizon A panic is in overdrive A single thought shoots like a bullet It is queer to be alive We are lost and we are lonely In a land of broken dreams We are lost and we are lonely We are tearing at the seams The day it veers toward twilight But it's not like you could tell Snow's crunching under sneakers In the distance rings a bell A crow is winging overhead Hello and farewell

18 Years 03:31
You tore me down The damage was done a long time ago I let it happen Oh that much I know Thought I could do it Do the right thing And that's what kept me in that boxing ring 18 years is a mighty long Give them back It was like living in a small town Why did I stay and let it Keep me down But time went by And next thing I knew Eighteen years they did accrue If I could go back in time I would do all the things that I missed If I could go back in time Maybe my past wouldn't exist Hindsight is easy to sort it all out Foresight is harder When you're in so much doubt If I'd been thinking I wouldn't have stayed But then I was always so very afraid
