Blow You Perfect Storm
04:41
|
|||
Well you came in to my life unexpectedly
When the forecast it had called for sunny skies
Well you took me oh so completely unawares
A completely unwelcome unwanted surprise
Rain, rain go away
Come again another day
Blow and blow and blow you perfect storm
Blow me with a force that never quits
Blow and blow and blow you perfect storm
Blow me till you blow me all to bits
Well you tore the roof right off of my old house
And you knocked down all of my well-constructed fences
You taught me that when it comes to mother nature
Silly me, I have no good defenses
Rain, rain go away
Come again another day
You got your hot air coming in from one direction
You got your cool air that sits on top of the warm
You got your moist air to add to your collection
And then you got the makings of a perfect storm
Well I like to think that I am a man of action
That no one can tell me what it is I should do
But one day a perfect storm it came my way
And it blew and blew and blew and blew
Rain, rain go away
Come again another day

Rain Down on You
04:18
|
|||
Rain down on you
Rain down on you
Sparks and flies spring out of nowhere
Dreams and wishes and a strange commotion
Connections made, connections severed
A signal lost from across the ocean
A plague of laughter cuts through the ether
An anxious crowd on the edge of their seats
They will do what they are told
Turn up the volume, pump up the beats
Well beyond your imagination
Well beyond your wildest dreams
There exists a strange civilization
Of bold and new extremes
The water heater went and exploded
The basement filled with a torrent of blood
The plumber drowned when he was exploring
We found him under a mountain of mud
In his hand he clutched a ledger
But the the paper had turned to rot
We deciphered all that we could
But what we learned we soon forgot
Ancient curses forever remain
Like the smell of a putrid perfume
Outside the rain is relentlessly falling
While inside we spin on a loom

In Absentia
05:41
|
|||
Where was I the night that you wept
Wept so hard you filled an ocean
Where was I when you got torn down
So bad you could not hold back your emotion
I was there to see you cry
Looking down on you from up on high
I was there to see you weep
Inside of you I was down so deep
I was there in absentia
The soul of me in absentia
I was there in absentia
In your head and in your heart
Where was I the day that you won
A blue ribbon at your spelling bee
And where was I the very first time
You hung a star on your Christmas tree
I was there just out of sight
Wishing I could hold you tight
Yeah I was there just outta view
Wishing I could be right next to you
Where was I the day you found out
You were going to have a kid
Where the heck was I when you kept on doing
All the great things that you did
I was never that far away
I could hear everything you'd say
I was never far from your side
Haven't been since the day that I died

Surf's Up
03:19
|
|||
Well we drove ourselves up the coast to Zuma Beach
We did, yes, we did
And when we found our spot
We stopped the car with a screech
We did. we really did
Then we hiked ourselves down the steep side of a hill
We did, that's what we did
Then we tromped aways down the shore to find our thrill
We did, we really did
Well a wave came in and it carried us away
Surf's up
They never found nothing much but sand and spray
Surf's up
Well we found ourselves out
Among the fish in the sea
We did, yes, we did
We were both holding onto the trunk of a tree
We did, we really did
When all of a sudden we spotted a distant land
We did
All the natives there looked friendly and tanned
The did, they really did
So we danced and ate and carried on
Until we felt totally shot, so shot
Then the natives scooped us up and stuck us
In a giant black iron pot, quite hot

Some Cloudy Day
05:45
|
|||
How I long to be in your loving arms
And stare in those bright seashell eyes
How I wish were dating again
Hanging out till two at the House of Pies
Dream and I can almost smell your hair
Sweet like the lilacs in the spring
I can wait for a million years
Till you give me back my wedding ring
Sorry it all turned out this way
Maybe we'll meet again on some cloudy day
Look what a mess I have made of things
Wish that I could just undo the past
Days are bright but the sun can be cruel
Right now I am feeling quite harassed
Give up, give up, give up that stupid dreaming
Put yourself out there on the front lines
Break out, break out, break out
From all that thrift-store stealing
The first one who gets shot
Is the one who whines
Sorry it all turned out this way
Maybe we'll meet again on some cloudy day

6. |
||||
So you think you're gonna get yourself away
From my cold hard hands so easily
So you think your gonna slip yourself away
From my iron-clad jail so weasily
Well I'm not done with you yet, little man
No I'm done with you yet
Well I'm not done with you yet, little man
Not even close you bet
So you think you got a pretty neat plan
For you to tunnel your way out to the other side
Well I don't mean to be a drag but let me say
That there is no good place for you to run and hide
So you think you're gonna bury me
Way out behind the fens deep in the elephant grass
Just know this that I will come back one day
And I am here to say I will kick your ass
|
||||
7. |
||||
I can't make no headway
I can't get nowhere
No one I know is pulling for me
No, no
You know they just don't care
Makin' the best of a bad situation
Doin' the most that I can
Makin' the best of a bad situation
That's the plan, Stan
I can't get no satisfaction
I ain't no Rolling Stone
No, I can't get no girl reaction
I'm out here all alone
No one gives a whit
No one gives a shit
I can't recall my last good time
I only remember the rotten
You can call me a three-time loser
A lifetime misbegotten

Hand to Hand
03:44
|
|||
You can take their guns
And you can take their knives
And you can take all their weapons away for good
You can take their anger
And you can take their rage
But there is only one thing that's ever understood
They were fighting hand to hand
They can smoke a peace pipe
They can say they surrender
But they'll be back to fighting before too long
They don't like each other
And they never did
And they really truly don't want to get along
You can make them talk the talk
And you can make them walk the walk
You can make them sing Give Peace a Chance
But they just want to fight
And they just want to hate
It's the ages-old human dance, dance, dance

You'll Be on Your Way
05:07
|
|||
You said that it was time that you leave here
Got to be going, be on your way
You said there's no reason to stay here
No point in stalling, no reason to delay
Time to call it and pull up your stakes
Time to sell all the crap
And clean your cupboards bare
Time to rid yourself of all your records
Box up your dishes, empty the Frigidare
If I may say so and I will
It's been a thrill, it's been a thrill
And yeah, oh, there's one more thing
One more thing I go to say
I love you, I love you
Though I know you'll be on your way
You said that it was time for you to take stock
And see the world from a new point of view
You said that it was time for you to find a new god
One that's not spiteful, one you won't wanna rue
If I may say so and I might
Hope you win the fight

Down the Rabbit Hole
03:39
|
|||
Well there ain't no internal logic here
No semblance of sense
Things are suddenly small
And then they are suddenly immense
It's all drink me and eat me
And you will shrink then grow
You might drown in a pool of tears
And be as dead as a dodo
Curiouser and curiouser
This landscape of your soul
As you tumble down, down, down the rabbit hole
Down, down, down the rabbit hole
"Well who are you," the caterpillar asks
As he takes a toke from his pipe
"Why don't you have a slice of my 'shroom
My little guttersnipe
One bite will make you taller
And one will make you shrink
It's up to you what you want to do
Don't matter what I think"
Well the Queen of Hearts is hard to please
Wants white roses painted red
Just the slightest indiscretion
And she screams, "Off with his head"
Reminds of a boss I once had
Who picked on my every flaw
Life inside his rabbit hole had no good rule of law

What Next?
03:34
|
|||
You say you want to rule the world
You want to make us all think like you
You say you want to say what god
Everyone gets to pray unto
You say you only want one language
And if you don't learn it you'll be shot
You say you want to tell all women how to dress
And tell them when they look real hot
And when you get what you want
What you really want
What then, what next
You say you want to say what's taught in schools
What books all of the kids are to read
They should reflect who you think you are
And every single one of your good deed
Your face will be on the dollar
The fives, the tens and all the twenties
And who will make a naysaying sound
They'll be too busy down on their knees
Will you be so damn happy
Will get just what you need
Will you make it a better world
If so, I hope you succeed

Never Going Back
05:38
|
|||
I give up, you win
You can have it all
Don't want nothing, you can run it
It's gonna be your call, it's your world
You can have it, put up your wall
Never going back home
It's your dream, it's not mine
You can live in it
These are your truths, I don't subscribe
I will not ever submit
Do your little dance, make your crazy claims
You're still a hypocrite
Lock me up and shackle my hands
I will not bow to your commands
I will not bow to your commands
I give up, you win
Go ahead and burn it down
You've got the keys to the kingdom
Throw on your gaudy crown
Who will stop you, no one at all
It's a world turned upside down
