To Dream
03:06

So many people running 'round
Do they even know where they're going
Got things to do
And places to be
Go which ever way the wind is blowing
We're all so busy
Busy, busy, busy
We start out somewhere and then we disappear
We come and go
Put on a show
How can anybody get anything done 'round here
We stomp and scream and cause a fuss
What in hell do we do it all for
Does it get us closer to what we want
Do we even care anymore
I've been waiting all my life
And I am ready to go
If I am moving so fast
Why does it seem so slow
So many people barely hanging on
Hanging on
And things for them likely won't go well
Still they dream
They dream about tomorrow
They must figure, what the hell

Bright Horizon
04:02
|
|||
I lived though dark and gloomy days
I lived with secrets and lies
I learned to never lose all hope
I learned to improvise
And I learned that ...
There is no need to be so full of dread
There's a bright horizon up ahead
I felt like I had bottomed out
I felt like I had reached the end
But I just kept on keeping on
And I found salvation 'round the bend
'Cause I learned that ...
There is no need to be so full of dread
There's a bright horizon up ahead
I got so lost
But then I was found
I found I wasn't the only lonely person around
Yeah, yeah, yeah
It is so easy to lose faith
It is so easy to cash out
But I refuse to give up
That's not what it is about
I just know that …

Point of Reference
06:55
|
|||
I know you don't get what I am up to
I know you don't see from my point of view
It's like I speak a different language
You're a headline and I'm a haiku
You look at me with derision
Like what I do is pretty dumb
But if you have never put yourself on the line
How can you know where I'm coming from
You don't got any point of reference
You've no idea what I'm on about
You look at me like I'm from another planet
I give you doubt
I give you doubt
You've never struggled with a direction
There's no place you've wanted to go
Everything has been taken care of
What you don't know you don't know
You look at me with discomfort
You'd rather I never even come around
"Don't go messing with my foundation"
You say, "don't disturb the ground"
Maybe you should try to write a poem
Spill your guts out on the page
Maybe you should be met with indifference
You'd have a better way to gauge
I don't expect you'll be understanding
I don't want your sympathy
But I don't want your judgment
Like something is wrong with me
There are days when I just can't stand it
There are days when I lose my voice
There are days when it's all too painful
But then I continue, I have no choice

Home Again
05:25
|
|||
I had been out a-wanderin'
For many a year
Saw some new and strange places
Some that filled me with fear
I had wandered far and wide
Lost track of where I'd been
Thought about all the people I once knew
From way back when
Sometimes I get nostalgic
Then I remember why I left
There was nothing to hold on to
I felt so bereft
I had to go where the air was fresh
And the landscape unknown
But once I got out in the big old world
I just felt so alone
Home again
I just can't wait to be
Home again
Everyone I know is there
Home Again
I just can't wait to be home
I just can't wait to be home
I searched for you like a man obsessed
Saw your face on every train
I held onto your letters
My salvation and my bane
What's the point of all this, I thought
When I could be back in your arms
I'd been drawn by the lure of the new
But it had lost all its charms
Home is all I really desire
Home by my very own home-fire
Home is where I truly belong
Home for all my whole lifelong
I had a lot of big ideas
'Bout how my life would go
Thought that I would travel the world
With nothing in tow
Believed that I would be free of my past
And all the bad things I had done
But then I turned 'round and went back home
To face everything under the sun

Late Night Companion
05:29
|
|||
Sleep tight and pleasant dreams
My love
See you in the dawn
Here's a kiss for your crinkled brow
It's not rude to yawn
I throw my arm around you
My late night companion
And I'll always surround you
My late night companion
Hold you tight
Say goodnight
And drift away
Well I can hear you breathe
My love
You seem to be at peace
Hope all your dreams are happy ones
Hope the nightmares cease
Drift away from the cruelty
Drift away from the pain
Drift away from this mean old world
Drop your ball and your chain
Sleep tight and pleasant dreams
My love
See you on the other side
I'll be there with open arms
And on moonbeams we'll ride

Peace Out
05:07
|
|||
I occupy a very small place
Somewhere at the back of the human race
I do my work then go to bed
Read a book then rest my head
Peace out, peace out
Love and kisses, love and kisses
Sincerely, me
I write my songs every day
But the world doesn't sing 'em
People think I toss them off
As if I knew how to fling 'em
Maybe in a better world
I would find my niche
Maybe in a better world
I'd be famous and rich
Who really cares if pack it all in
Who really cares if I bitch and moan
But who really cares who really cares
In this world we are all alone

All Join In
03:07
|
|||
When you can't get nothing done
And you think you got no chance to win
Just get yourself in sync
We can work it out if we all join in
If you always tell the truth
And are faithful as Rin Tin Tin
You can save the world
We can work it out if we all join in
You can live out all your dreams
And solve all your woes
You can laugh and be happy
From your head down to your toes
It's as a simple as can be
Just love all your kith and kin
That's all you need to do
We can work it out if we all join in
When you're feeling down and blue
Less mighty than the Mighty Quinn
Put a smile on your face
We can work it out if we all join in
When you think you've lost all hope
And no ones cares just where you've been
Don't let it get you down
We can work it out if we all join in
If you do a do-si-do
Or a simple pirouette
You'll wind up on your feet
That's as certain as the surest bets
Raise yourself a toast
With the slowest of the slowest gin
It's gonna be alright
We can work it out if we all join in
Hit it!
When you don't know where you're going
And you don't know where you been
Just take a look around
We can work it out if we all join in
When you think you've hit the bottom
The has-est of all has-beens
Just take a tiny step
We can work it out if we all join in
When you think you've lost your way
And the road ahead is dark
Take a leap outside yourself
Do it on a lark
Don't be so afraid
Your skin really ain't all that thin
As long as we're alive
We can work it out if we all join in

I Can Dream, Can't I?
05:04
|
|||
There is a place
Not so far from here
Everyone there is my friend
Everyone's sincere
I feel their love
And they feel mine
We got each other's backs, oh yeah
We get along fine
Well we hang out at each other's houses
We laugh and sing a sweet lullaby
OK, yeah I made it all up
But I can dream
I can dream, can't I
There is a place
It's right around the bend
I call it my home sweet home
It's where I go to mend
Everyone's generous
They would give your their shirt
Yeah, they fill you up with love
And take away the hurt
We swap some spit and war stories
We get drunk and we get high
There is a place
Where I belong
I hang with Paul McCartney
And we write some songs
He's a pretty cool guy
He likes to smoke some weed
He says he digs my lyrics
He has no reason to mislead
He talks about the Beatles, yeah, yeah, yeah
He has no need to justify

Turtles All the Way Down
05:07
|
|||
We all have our big ideas we like to cling to
They help believe it'll be all right
What does it matter if they are true or false
If they help us through our good night
I so want to believe
That all my good ideas are safe and sound
I so want to believe
That it's turtles all the way down
We like to think we understand mother nature
At least in terms of why we're here
We like to think we're standing on firm ground
But what's underneath the second or third tier
Does it make any sense
Does it really matter
We believe what we're gonna believe
All our philosophies and all our Gods
They're there for us to cleave
We think we're so smart, the top of our class
But there's so little we actually know
We make our laws, we tear down countries
Everything is quid pro quo

Dreamland

My dad told me stories
Even now I find them hard to believe
It's not like he was pulling my leg
Or that he meant to deceive
I think he wanted to set my mind spinning
Look for a broader view
I was just a little kid
I couldn't even tie my shoe
He said, Son don't you worry
Some things you can't yet understand
A time will come for everyone
And there will be a dreamland
My dad was once a solider
Fought battles during World War II
Said he killed a bunch of Nazis
Not sure how much of that was true
He seemed larger than life
Like an oak that stretches up the moon
He warned me to be on my way
'Cause it's over with much too soon
I know it may seem tough at times
And you might be tempted to fold
But you must do what you must do
Don't ever put your life on hold
My dad was pretty funny
Had clever way with a joke
Didn't matter what he said
I loved the way that he spoke
Some of what he did was hurtful
Some of what he did was kind
Everything he ever did will always be
In my heart and on my mind
